Perhaps the best hospital in the region
Institutions like Harborview and the University of Washington are excellent resources for select problems, but for most illnesses, Swedish provides the best care. If you have a gunshot wound to the chest, you want to go to Harborview. And if you have an incredibly rare form of cancer, you might be better off at the University of Washington. Overlake has an excellent psychiatric service, and Virginia Mason has a well-regarded center for managing chronic pain. But for overall quality, size, technology, nursing, and depth and breadth of talent among the medical staff, Swedish is premier facility in the region.

Referral to the most skilled specialists available
As an independent practice, we can and do refer patients anywhere they want. But generally we recommend Swedish because of the excellent medical staff. Dr. Frank has been affiliated with Swedish Medical Center on First Hill for the past 12 years and enjoys a close working relationship with many of the specialists who practice at that hospital. One of the most valuable services our office provides is to refer patient to the "A Team" when it comes to specialists. If you experience a complicated problem requiring the input of a medical or surgical specialist, having your primary care doctor pick the right person can make all the difference.

Excellent relationships with inpatient and ER physicians
If you have an urgent medical problem or need hospitalization, it is comforting to know that your doctor has a longstanding relationship with the physicians who help provide emergency room and inpatient care. Dr. Frank and Joyce Hogan both served in the emergency department at Swedish for many years. We have personal friendships and connections to many of the doctors and nurses who work there. Our patients are extremely well taken care of if they require a trip to the ER. If you need to be hospitalized, we use specialists in hospital medicine to assist in your care. Again, longstanding personal and professional relationships with these doctors help insure the best care for our patients.
